6 Food to Relief Sore Throat


Sore throat is one of the most common diseases that people usually suffered. Sore throat usually caused by viral infection, which is derived flu, fever and aches. Besides causing discomfort, sore throat  also make us to avoid foods with fat such as fried and spicy foods. To speed up the healing process, there are actually several types of foods that can help.



1. A mixture of lemon juice and honey

A mixture of lemon juice and honey is one of the alternative methods of treatment that can help relieve sore throat and reduce inflammation. These drinks also provide a cooling effect on the throat.

2. Egg White

Not many know that egg whites can be help dealing with inflammation and pain in the throat. But make sure you do not mix the egg whites with herbs because it may worsen the pain.


3. Banana

Bananas are fruit that is not acidic and gentle on the throat. It is very easy for you to swallow, especially when you're a sore throat. In addition, this fruit also has a low glycemic index and rich in vitamins, B6, potassium, and of course, vitamin C.

4. Ginger or honey tea

A cup of hot tea from ginger or honey may be the right choice for soothing irritated and itchy throat. Honey will coat the throat and helps prevent irritation, which is the main reason behind the emergence of coughing.

5. Oatmeal

Oatmeal is one of the foods that are high in soluble fiber, usually  help in lowering LDL cholesterol levels. Oats are also high in protein keeps you feeling full for a longer period of time. To overcome sore throat, make a bowl of hot oatmeal with bananas or honey added in it. Low levels glycemic in oats can also be used as a snack before starting daily activities.

6. Boiled Carrots

Carrots are fabulous food as medicine when you are sick, but they have to be boiled or steamed before eating. Because eating raw carrots can actually worsen a sore throat. Carrots are full of essential nutrients, such as vitamin A, vitamin C, vitamin K, fiber and potassium.
